Written Walkthrough P3
Tutorial
After the initial cutscenes and discussion with Ket, you’re able to start moving around. Take this time to familiarize yourself with movement and jumping. Get a feel for the game and how it controls — Mandragora does a great job easing you in with small tutorials throughout this area.
Eventually, you’ll encounter a trio of inquisitors — Kezka, Olem, and Maddick. You’ll enter a sparring session with Maddick. Use this moment to practice and adjust to the controls.
Mandragora uses RT + a directional input (controller scheme) to dodge, which may feel different from other games. I stuck with the default controls, but if something feels off — now is the perfect time to change your control scheme.
After the inquisitor duel, move forward and open the door using RB. Explore the room carefully. To the left of the soldier you’ll find 4× Copper Bars, and up the ladder to the right is a chest with supplies. Hidden items are common — always stay alert.
Exit and head east. Jump across the platforms and loop around to collect coal. Grab the sage on your way out, then continue east into the Feralwood.
Activate the Witch Stone — think of these as bonfires. These act as checkpoints and resting spots, and later, places to level up. Activate it and continue east.
You’ll reach a bridge with a prompt allowing you to look up or down. Use down + jump to drop beneath the bridge and head west to grab some extra gold.
Climb back up and continue east. Jump up to collect 3× Wood, then jump again to find a hidden platform containing your first lockpicks. These are extremely valuable early on.
Continue east and break through the wall when prompted. Move through the cave, defeat rats, collect copper, and pick up the plans for a Copper Sword. Exit the cave and continue east to meet Ulfar.
Ulfar hints at sharpening your weapon — take this advice seriously. Use consumables liberally. Craft bandages, potions, and anything available to you. Managing stamina is more important than forcing damage.
After speaking with Ulfar, continue east and prepare for your first boss fight. The game introduces Quick-Use items here — read and understand how they work.
First Boss — Warg
The hardest part of this fight is still adjusting to the control scheme. I maintain a written bestiary for every enemy, along with dedicated boss guides, which I’ll link as we go.
If you die a few times, don’t worry. The Warg isn’t especially difficult — you’re still learning. Mandragora rewards patience.
The Warg exists to teach stamina management. Take your time, watch your stamina bar closely, and always leave enough stamina for one to two dodges.
The most damage I landed was five swings in a row when the Warg slammed into a wall and became stunned. Roll through attacks whenever possible — invincibility frames matter.
Once the Warg is defeated, return to Ulfar. After a few cutscenes — congratulations. The tutorial is complete, and the real journey begins.
