After the initial cutscenes and discussion with Ket, you’re able to start moving around. Take this time to familiarize yourself with movement and jumps. Get a feel for the game and how it controls. Mandragora does a good job easing you in with small tutorials throughout this area.

Eventually, you’ll encounter a trio of inquisitors — Kezka, Olem, and Maddick. You’ll enter a sparring session with Maddick. Use this as a low-pressure opportunity to practice and get comfortable with the controls.

Mandragora uses <b>RT</b> (controller scheme) plus a directional input to dodge, which can feel different from other games. I personally stuck with the default controls, but if something feels off, adjust your control scheme now. The sooner you’re comfortable, the more enjoyable the game will be.

After the duel, move forward and open the door using <b>RB</b>. Explore the room carefully. To the left of the soldier are <b>4× Copper Bars</b>, and climbing the ladder to the right leads to a chest with supplies. This is your first lesson in hidden loot — always keep a sharp eye.

Exit the room and head east. Jump across the platforms and loop around to collect some coal. Grab the sage on your way out, then continue east into the <b>Feralwood</b>.

Activate the Witch Stone — think of these like bonfires. They serve as checkpoints, resting spots, and eventually places to level up. Activate it and continue east.

You’ll reach a bridge with a prompt to look up and down. Use <b>down + jump</b> to drop underneath the bridge, then head west to pick up some extra money.

Climb back up and continue east. At the platforms, jump upward to collect <b>3× Wood</b>. Jump up again to find a hidden platform — this contains your <b>first lockpicks</b>, which are extremely important early on.

Continue east and break through the wall when prompted. Move through the cave, defeat the rats, collect copper, and pick up the plans for a <b>Copper Sword</b>.

Exit the cave and keep heading east to meet <b>Ulfar</b>. Wolves have come through and scared off his precious Vin.

Ulfar hints at sharpening your weapon — take this advice seriously. If this is your first playthrough, the biggest tip I can give you is to use consumables liberally. Craft bandages, potions — anything you can, whenever you can.

Spellcasters may struggle slightly early on without mana potions, but it’s manageable. More importantly, focus on stamina management. Being able to dodge or block is far more valuable than forcing extra damage in most situations.
